Seems we are dealing here with a man not of this world. When we learn a use an object has, habituate our dealings with it, it takes a lot of brainpower, or a different brain, to be able to transform it. Our world is abundant in objects with practical, narrow uses and we keep making new ones, even more specific. A pen has an intended purpose, a marker has another, chalk a third one and neither of them can replace a technical pen. When Federico Uribe sees pencils, his idea of their use is completely different. Flowers can be made from plastic forks and split clothespins, animals from cut sport shoes and coins form a giant sphere. For Mr. Uribe the world must be a magical place. We are amazed, and a bit jealous.
